June brings the end of the OWAC, show here's a few pictures of my new army

Where did the time go, looking back it seemed to drag on forever, now it just feels that wieght has been lifted and I can look back and see the results of my efforts and looking forward to putting these on a table for a game to see how they play.

First month, saw me start off with a few pilgrims, all figures from the Celtos range via Brigade Models

http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/Celtos/The%20Gaels.html

Second month, I've seen what others did in January, let me take the brake off and push myself a bit further with a few amazon/greek types from Foundry which I think are no longer in production and a selection of masked females to details of which I've forgotten, sorry.

Month three, is when I really went to town, following Mr Beales heroic efforts with his Chaos horde in month two the chase was on, so with holiday due, bad weather and having to stay home I splashed a bit of paint over this little lot - various manufacturers and age of figures from C series amazons, grenadier to Foundry and others.

Month four saw me keep up the pressure and dab a little paint over a few C series Amazons and a Grenadier giantess.

Month five, I had intended to take a month off but Mr Beale was still set a hard pace so I pushed on with these girls! Another grenadier collossal lord, giantess, a couple of female ogres origin unknown, Shadow forge Centuars and grenadiers cat riders.

Month six, Saw me splosh and touch of paint over a few oddments in the bottow of the box to make up the numbers in various units and have a little fun!

When all added together gave me this little lot.

All in all, a happy bunny.

Golgfag1's latest efforts in the Old World Army Challenge (May)

Well, after a cracking April which left me well in advance with my painting, where did the time go, I started with a load of good intententions which went straight out of the window! As a load of minor distractions accumalated (broken boiler, car, work emergancy trip to vets and dentist etc etc.) into one big time-sink, which I slowly had to work my way through (how do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time). So here's what I have managed to splash a little paint over.

Another Grenadier giant - 3306, Yvette, Enchantress of the Emerald Isles, by Jannine Bennett. The original box shows a very scantilly dressed figure, just shows how times have changed, for a steady two hundred points.

All  based and varnished with a scattering of C series amazons at her feet, which have all recently received a dab of paint, but won't be in this month's entry, as I don't have any bases for them.

Next a selection of  Amazonians riding Sabre-toothed tigers, again from Grenadier, I spent a little time on these girls, providing a more tiger like appearance to the cats and replacing the soft spear shafts with piano wire to give a more uniform/military pose to the unit. Which at forty eight points each provides a total of three hundred and thirty six points for seven of them.

The next batch are a selection of female Centuars carrying bows there were to be more of them but my order of Shadowforge Miniatures turned up short so I added Chiral, Centuar captain by Reaper miniatures 14497 to act as a champion until my original order can be filled. Centuars carrying bows and wearing light armour and shields come in at  thirty seven points each and the champion carrying an additional spear and wearing barding, there's also a centuar level ten wizard - gives a total of four hundred and seventy points.

Reaper Dark Heaven Legends 02230 Gwyneth Roanmane

Next up, a small Amazonian giantess from Grenadier for another two hundred points

Last but by no means least my army cooks!

So, altogether for the group shots.

Is Oldhammer dying?

OK, I'm asking the question and I'm fairly sure there will be a howl of protest because some folks will be disconcerted that the question has been asked; but sometimes a question has to be asked:- Is Oldhammer dying? I'm not asking because of any animosity towards the Oldhammer ethos or any of its 'Leading Lights', but I'm concerned.

Relatively speak, I've recently started a Blog and thus started surfing other blogs to see what's happening out on the web and to be honest found - not a lot to be singing about, apart from either some dissatisfaction or 'old-hands' resting on their laurels -  As Their not posting anything on a regular basis, either on their Blogs or the Forum! If, they've moved their activity elsewhere - why am I not seeing or hearing anything about it? Or have they settled into a safe routine, within a 'safe' little circle of friends and their content with their lot; or have they found other things to occupy their time - Family, work or did they consider they'd done their bit, or found the Forum too hard an audience, as they'd be called to back-up their statements with reasoned conversation.

Now, don't get me wrong Oldhammer is alive and well in certain corners of the Web and being well publicized by the like of Asslessman, Zhu and Airbornegrove  stories of daring do are being crafted and dice rolled, with the rise of heroes and villians.

So here's to a great howl of protest to see if anybody's paying attention?

Golgfag1's April's contingent for OWAC - Heroes and Wizards

March found me with plenty of time on my hands to plough on with my efforts to give Mr Beales a run for his money, all due to Covid19, inclement weather and having to take holiday entitlement - found me completing my initial intentions, thus I posted a good week in advance of the end of the month.  Following the March post and a little light hearted banter between myself and Mr Beale, I decided rather than take a break over April, I'd push on with the next contingent of wizards and Heroes and then go off and do something else.

First up, a Colossal Lord lord from Grenadier  Miniatures  - Cassandra https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/grenadier/images/3304.jpg

I wasn't sure on the colour schemce so plumbed for classic Wonder woman, be it Linda Carter or Gal Gadot - red, white and blue, where I could, with bronze armour (vambrace and pauldrons) and a chainlink hauberk. I apologies now - the miniature is from a time when attitudes were different, but I'm not a revisionist and accept it for what it is.

Quite happy with the way she turned out, will be using her as a giantess .

Next up a few low level wizards, Original Citadel C series Sisterhood novices/Initates, classing these as Warhammer third edition, level fives' .

Next up a Sisterhood Mage, I'll class her as a level fifteen wizard .

The mother Samatha figure's rather nice, so I'll run for another level fifteen wizard .

I've also dabbed a little paint over four nobles, I don't have enough of these to form a regiment so will be using them as champions for my other units .

Last, but by no means least, the Goddess Rigg, now I'll be honest I consider this figure the worst of the C series Amazonian figures and thus I'm not inclined to use it as such, so am simply going to class it as a female ogre champion (I intend to expand this idea latter in the challenge, with a contingent of female ogres!).

Finally a group shot all varnished and based to match the previous months contingents.

Next month - cavalry and beasties!
